Ames Nowell State Park Park Name: Ames Nowell State Park

Ashuwillticook Rail Trail Park Name: Ashuwillticook Rail Trail
Park Serve Activity: Participants will assist with trail clean-up and landscaping - sweeping raking, planting flowers & mulching. Co-sponsored by M. Edward Jewelers.

Directions: From the South, East and West/Mass Pike (I-90): Take Exit 2 in Lee. Follow US Rte. 20 west to US Rte. 7 north for 11 miles to downtown Pittsfield. At Park Square rotary follow East Street for 3.25 miles (East St. becomes Merrill Road after 1.5 miles) to intersection of MA Rte. 9 and MA Rte. 8. Continue straight through intersection on Rte. 8 north for 1.5 miles to Lanesborough-Pittsfield line. Turn left at lights for Berkshire Mall Road entrance and rail trail parking. Farnams Road rail trail parking lot is 3.5 miles further on Rte. 8 north. From the North, East and West/Rte. 2: Take MA Rte. 2 in downtown North Adams to MA Rte. 8 south for 5.5 miles to Adams center. Look for brown Ashuwillticook signs. Turn left onto Hoosac Street, then immediate right onto Depot Street. Parking is at Discover the Berkshires Visitor Center on left. Access to rail trail is behind the Visitors Center. Parking areas are located along MA Rte. 8 at: the southern trailhead on Berkshire Mall Road in Lanesborough; Farnams Road and Church Street in Cheshire; and in Adams at Russell Field off Harmony St., and northern trailhead at the Discover the Berkshires Visitor Center, 3 Hoosac Street. Parking is free.
Beartown State Forest Park Name: Beartown State Forest
Park Serve Activity: Participants will help plant native flowers, shrubs and a tree or two. There will also be an opportunity for trail clearing and general cleanup of the state forest.

Directions: Beartown is located in the southern Berkshires in western MA. From the East or West/MassPike (I-90): Take Exit 2 in Lee. Follow MA Rte. 102 west for 4.7 miles to Stockbridge. Turn left and follow U.S. Rte 7 South for 6.1 miles to Great Barrington. Turn left and follow MA Rte. 23 east for 5.3 miles to Monterey. Turn left onto Blue Hill Road then follow the brown lead-in signs 0.5 miles to park headquarters on left, or 2.2 miles to park entrance on right (Benedict Pond Road). From North or South/Rte. 7: From US Rte 7 in Great Barrington, take MA Rte. 23 east for 5.3 miles to Monterey. Belle Isle Marsh Reservation Park Name: Belle Isle Marsh Reservation
Park Serve Activity: Participants will help withspring clean up of Belle Isle Marsh and learn about this important habitat for wildlife. Co-sponsored by the Friends of Belle Isle Marsh.

Directions: MBTA: Blue Line to Suffolk Downs Station, exit onto Bennington Street, turn left, the entrance is 500 yards on the right. By Car: From the south take Rt. 93 north through the Callahan Tunnel onto Rt. 1A, take the second exit (Winthrop/Chelsea) onto Bennington Street. Continue 1.5 miles to the main entrance on the right. From the north take Rt. 1A south, left at the Ramada Inn sign in East Boston and follow Boardman Street to Bennington Street. Take a left onto Bennington, continue for 1/2 mile, entrance is on the right.
Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park Park Name: Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park

Directions: From the East/West/Boston/Southeast: Take Mass Pike (Rte. I-90) to exit #10A in Millbury, Rte 146 South. Take Rte 146 S & follow for 12 miles to exit # 3, Route 16. Turn left onto Rte 16 East and follow for 2 miles to the traffic lights. Turn left onto Route 122 North and follow for 1-1/4 mile and then turn right at traffic light onto Hartford Ave. In 1 mile, turn right onto Oak Street at the UMass Tri-River Family Health Center. Visitor Center is 1/10 mile on the left in the red barn. From Northeast/Worcester: Take Rte 495 to Rte 290 West to exit #12, Rte 146 South. Follow Rte 146S to exit # 3, Route 16. Turn left onto Rte 16 East and follow for 2 miles to the traffic lights. Turn left onto Route 122 North and follow for 1-1/4 mile. Then turn right at traffic light onto Hartford Ave. In 1 mile, turn right on Oak Street at the UMass Tri-River Family Health Center. Visitor Center is 1/10 mile on the left. From Northwest: Take Rte 2 East to exit #33 in Leominster, Rte 190 South. Follow Rte 190S to Rte 290 West in Worcester. Take Rte 290W to exit #12. Rte 146 South. Follow Rte 146 S to exit # 3, Rte 16. Turn left onto Rte 16 East and follow for 2 miles to the traffic lights. Turn left onto Route 122 North and follow for 1-1/4 mile. Then turn right at traffic light onto Hartford Ave. In 1 mile, turn right on Oak Street at the UMass Tri-River Family Health Center. Visitor Center is 1/10 mile on the left in the red barn. Alternate: From Route 122 For those that prefer to travel through some of the mill villages: Take Exit 11 off the Mass Pike and follow Route 122 South towards Grafton. Follow Rte 122S for 13 miles to Hartford Avenue and turn left. In 1 mile, turn right on Oak Street at the UMass Tri-River Family Health Center. Visitor Center is 1/10 mile on the left in the red barn.
Blessings of the Bay Boathouse Park Name: Blessings of the Bay Boathouse
Park Serve Activity: Participants will assist with the cleanupof the Mystic River, removing trash, debris, etc. from along the banks of the river. Some plantings. Co-sponsored by the Mystic River Watershed Assn., GroundworkSomerville, Cithy of Somerville, KEEN Footwear and Comcast.

Blue Hills Reservation - Invasive Plants Removal Park Name: Blue Hills Reservation - Invasive Plants Removal
Park Serve Activity: Join the Friends of the Blue Hills to walk 20 minutes in to a site to remove invasive plants that threaten native specieds. Bring snacks, water and wear long pants. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Blue Hills.

Park Serve Activity: Participants will help repair horse paddock cross rails and gates and do small carpentry work. Possibly some gardening work as well. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Mass. Parks Ranger Mounted Unit.

Blue Hills Reservation - Trails Park Name: Blue Hills Reservation - Trails
Park Serve Activity: Participants will join the Friends of the Blue Hills to help maintain the trails and keep the forestshealthy. Groups will carpool to different sites to cut brush and clear water irrigation structures on the trails. We'll supply the tools and training. Bring snacks, water and wear long pants. Lunch provided for trail workers at 12:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Blue Hills.

Park Serve Activity: Participants and park staff will paint the picnic area pavilion. Co-sponsored by the G.A.C. Running Club of Topsfield.

Directions: From North or South: Take Rte. 1 to Topsfield, right on Ipswich Rd. for 1/2 mile, then right on Asbury St. Follow Asbury St. approximately 3 miles to Highland St. and turn left. Follow Highland St. for 3 miles to state park entrance on the left. Go through the gate and follow The Avenue to the swimming pool area. Staff will direct parking from there. From Newbury Port: Take Route 1 south to Topsfield (approximately 8 miles). Turn left onto Ipswich Road at set of lights. Follow Ipswich Road 1.2 miles then take a right onto Asbury Street. The park entrance is located approximately ¼ mile on the left.

Park Serve Activity: Participants will pick up litter and tree branches along the rail trail and sweep up sand where it has built up on the trail. The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Cod Rail Trail

Charles River Reservation - River Street Waltham Park Name: Charles River Reservation - River Street Waltham

Douglas State Forest - SNETT Park Name: Douglas State Forest - SNETT
Park Serve Activity: Participants will assist cutting back trees and brush, limbing trees and piling brush for chipping on a section of the Southern New England Trunkline Trail. Part of work on an approved trail improvement grant obtained by the Bay State Trail Riders Anns (BSTRA)

Fall River Heritage State Park Park Name: Fall River Heritage State Park
Park Serve Activity: Participants will assist with Clean up of park grounds. This event is co-sponsored by State Representative Carole Fiola

Directions: From Route 24 South, Boston:Take the first Fall River Exit, 7 after the airport road exit by staying in the right lane (Route 79 & 138 South, N Tiverton RI). stay on Route 79 & 138 South and take the Davol Street Exit. Follow Davol St 1/4 mile and park will be on your right From Route 24 North: Stay in the left lane at the 95 Overpass and turn left on to 195 West. Take Exit 5 (Taunton - N Tiverton, RI Route 79 & 138 North) Bear right at the fork on the ramp. Take the next right (Route 6 East- Davol Street Exit) at the bottom of the ramp, turn left. Take the next exit left on to Davol Street and follow for 1/4 mile. The park will be on the right.
Gateway Park at Hingham Shipyards Park Name: Gateway Park at Hingham Shipyards
Park Serve Activity: This is new park land adjacent to the DCR Island District Headqurters in the Hingham Shipyard. Participants will help weed and mulch several beds and clear litter from the park and install new picnic tables. A new park sign will be install at the entrance, with flowers planted around the sign. Co-sponsored bythe Boston Harbor Island Alliance.
Meeting Place/Time: Parking lot for Hingham Shipward, 30 Shipyard Dr., Hingham at 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Directions: From I-93 - Head south on the expressway toward Quincy. Get off on Rt. 3A South Exit 12. follow Rte. 3A until you see signs for Wollaston Beach/Quincy Shore Dr. Bear left onto Quincy Shore Dr. Follow until it rejoins Rt. 3A in Quincy. Continue on Rt. 3A south. You will go around a traffic circle, then over a large drawbridge. After going over another small bridge, look for LINCOLN PLAZA on your right. Take a left at the next light into the Hewitts cove/Shipyard entrance and follow sign to the ferry dock. Continue on paved road, look for a grey building on your left. Fromother locales: Take the MA Rte 228 Exit 14 toward Nantasket Beach. Follow Rte. 228 through Hingham until Rt. 228 intersects with Rt. 3A north toward Weymouth. About a mile after the Hingham traffic circle look for a big smokestack. Take a right at the light into Hewitts Cove/Hingham Shipyard.
Lowell Heritage State Park Park Name: Lowell Heritage State Park
Park Serve Activity: Participants will help with the annual spring cleanup of Victorian Garden and Mack Plaza. Tasks include raking, sweeping, mulching and clean up.
Meeting Place/Time: Mack Building - 25 Shattuck Street, Lowell Ma at 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Directions: Take 495 towards Lowell. Take Exit 35 A-B-C to Rt. 3/Lowell Connector and choose 35-C to merge onto the Lowell Connector. Go to end of Connector and turn onto Gorham St. Follow Gorham St. toward Lowell Center. Gorham St. becomes Sheraton Way and then Central St. Turn left onto Merrimack St. Turn left onto Shattuck St. 25 Shattuck is on right (If you reach Dutton St., you've gone too far) Metered parking available on the street or there is a parking garage. Take Exit 5B on to Thorndike Street/ MA-3A N. Continue to follow. Thorndike Street becomes Dutton Street. Turn Right on to Market Street. Take a left on to Palmer Street. Turn Left on to Middle Street. Take a left on to Shattuck Street. Destination will be on your right.
Mass Central Rail Tail Park Name: Mass Central Rail Tail
Park Serve Activity: Participants will focus on beautifying the area around the parking lots and entrances at both Manning Street and River Street in Holden. Work includes clipping brush, spreading mulch, and possibly planting. There may also be time for some cleanup of the rail trail between the two sites. Co-sponsored by Wachusett Greenways, Inc.
